Service Description
Prerequisite: Experience level for participants should have completed a basic handgun and permit level class within the past year, with a solid grasp of range etiquette and basic gun handling and safety skills. Train with Purpose. Prepare for Reality. The Basic Defensive Handgun Class is built for those ready to go beyond the fundamentals and begin training with a defensive mindset. This course introduces the essential skills needed to safely and effectively use a handgun in real-world self-defense scenarios. Students will learn how to draw from a holster, engage multiple targets, move while shooting, and respond to common malfunctions under pressure. This is an active, hands-on course designed to build safe habits, efficient weapon handling, and confidence in your ability to respond effectively when it counts. What You’ll Learn: Safe and efficient holster draw techniques Clearing common malfunctions under stress Emergency and tactical reloads Engaging multiple targets with speed and control Shooting while moving and utilizing cover The balance between accuracy, speed, and decision-making Reinforcing fundamentals under realistic conditions Class Details: Prerequisite: Basic handgun safety class or equivalent experience (must be proficient in safe firearm handling) Duration: 6-7 Hours Range Fee: $20 (cash only, paid directly to SAFE) Required Gear: Working handgun (preferably a centerfire gun) Approximately 500 rounds of factory FMJ ball ammunition Minimum of two functional magazines Eye and ear protection IWB or OWB holster (NO SERPA or BLACKHAWK HOLSTERS) NO SIG SAUER P320 or P320 X5 pistols allowed Magazine pouch for belts Belt designed for firearm handling or concealed rig setup Personal lunch and beverages encouraged Attire: High collared shirt, cover and concealment garment if carrying concealed (bring options). No open-toe shoes. Baseball caps recommended but not required. Note: SAFE instructors do not provide legal advice.
